Daewoo Forklifts North Dakota
Start-up of the forklift business
A national expansion of the industrial machines industry was promoted by Korea in the latter part of the 1960s. At that time, the Korean forklift market was an open-import situation. Korea Machinery Co., Ltd. began to import forklifts that are assembled and sell them to large business groups, the armed forces and state-run companies. In 1976, Korea Machinery Co., Ltd. merged with Daewoo Heavy Industries Ltd. The corporation established sales and service outlets throughout the nation and, a few years later, opened its very own forklift production factory. Quality improvement and product development through continuous technical training were the plant's main focus.
Expansion of forklift exports
The market share of Daewoo Heavy Industries Ltd in the domestic forklift business went as high as 90%. By the 1980s, the sales of the company increases and technological improvements had drawn the interest of the American company, Caterpillar Industrial Inc. The two companies entered a joint-venture project during the early 1980s to deal with competition faced by Caterpillar within the US forklift market. The forklift sales of Daewoo skyrocketed and another plant was constructed during 1984. Daewoo Heavy Industries Ltd. was then in a position to make forklifts for export. In the early part of the 90s, Daewoo went global with a worldwide sales network. New models were developed as an independent brand using Korean technology.
Development of new models
The G5 series was the very first series of proprietary models, developed during the year 1998. These models were 1800 kg - 3000 kg internal combustion trucks. A research effort developed core technologies for transmissions, engines and hydraulic systems. A host of durability and performance tests have validated the quality of this new family of trucks. The company established reliability evaluation centers to guarantee the reliability of main components. These centers have obtained worldwide respect.
Well-known for its low impact on the environment and operator comfort is the G5 series. The G5 is known all around the world for being operator friendly, durable and reliable. The series rated high among clients during large-scale, after sales surveys as part of a consumer-oriented advertising strategy for these models.
