Internal combustion counterbalanced lift trucks
Internal combustion engine trucks are powered by diesel, gasoline, liquid propane or compressed natural gas. Lift trucks that are powered by gasoline or diesel are usually big trucks designed for outdoor use. They either have pneumatic tires suitable for driving on steep inclines and rough terrains, or cushion tires made of solid rubber suited to driving on floors indoors.

Internal combustion counterbalanced lift trucks with cushion tires are categorized as Class 4 trucks by the ITA. Class 5 are trucks which have pneumatic tires.

Generally used to fuel indoor lift trucks is liquid propane. These types of trucks have several advantages. They can provide consistent power during operation and are capable of achieving higher speeds. They don't have to be refueled as often as lift trucks powered by other sources. Propane cylinders could be stored anywhere as they don't take up a lot of space. The cylinders can be easily switched out by a trained operator.

Internal combustion trucks are easy to refuel and this is its advantage. The disadvantages are too much noise and air-pollution.
