Telescopic booms are big industrial equipment designed with a straight boom arm that is extendable. The boom is usually situated on a rotating turntable. The telescoping boom lifts are normally used for jobs that require tasks to be done at heights that exceed other kinds of lifts. For instance, workers can perform exterior repairs or renovations on medium sized buildings but using these lifts instead of having the additional work of setting up an outside elevator or a pulley system.
The boom lift is only designed to hold a single person. These buckets are more suitable to particular tasks like for example electrical repair, as opposed to general maintenance or window washing. These lifts are available in electric and gas configurations and are offered with both outdoor and indoor tires.
Scissor Lifts
Underneath the scissor lifts work platform are the cross braces in which the equipment gets its name. When the braces move together it pushes the platform straight up. As these machinery must be positioned directly below the work site, compared to boom lifts, these units are way more limited in their use.
The scissor lift normally has a bigger platform that allows the operator to control the lift to access a bigger work area once the lift platform is raised off the ground. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of a concern with these kinds of machines, because they should sit on flat ground in order to be used. Scissor lifts are ideal for being utilized for window installation or cladding, because they provide the workers with the desired mobility; they are also a good choice for window cleaning applications or exterior repairs.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
The boom truck or cherry picker refers to the utility vehicle usually utilized to raise employees for different tasks done at heights. Usually, these types of trucks have a cab. It is here where the driver sits and operates the machinery. There is a bucket for where the worker can stand along with an actuator arm for raising the boom and a winch for carrying.
Cherry pickers could lift personnel up to heights that were previously inaccessible. The cranes function is to lift both heavy supplies and equipment for one place to another. There are a variety of different crane types that can carry out various purposes. Both of these different types of equipment excel at different tasks and are suitable for specific applications and finishing particular tasks.
