There is a great convenience when utilizing a scissor lift, since the convenience of working and the lift basket's safety gives peace of mind while attempting to carry out tasks which could have otherwise needed using the rung of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this machinery make it the best alternative for carrying tasks from heights.
The majority of scissor lifts are operated by batteries that are internally mounted inside the lift's base. These batteries need to be charged following a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is a simple task to charge the batteries. This can be carried out without any particular equipment or tools and needs no heavy labor.
The equipment needs to be parked near an electrical output so as to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging place should also be in a well-ventilated area. Then, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button located near the charger or the control box, inside the basket of the lift. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Normally, units that are older will have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
After that, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be sure you are charging in a place that is well ventilated and then plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. In order to prevent accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is intentionally short. This is because if any extra length were to drop out of the battery charger storage area when in use, extreme danger could likely take place.
