The ALC 1000 electronic controls are a menu-based system which enables the user to easily calibrate the machine and its parts. System diagnostics are offered in various languages. On the Z-80/60 unit, there are dual fuel options available. The optional Deutz diesel powered engine is turbocharged, but quiet. It allows for improved performance at higher altitudes. Furthermore, it carries more than enough torque for better terrain- and grade-ability.
The 4-wheel drive ability and full-time positive traction adds enhanced traction for tough terrain. The Z-135/70 only offers four-wheel steering. Optional features on this model include coordinated, crab, rear wheel and front wheel steering to give the machinery more agility. The full-time active oscillating axle helps improve wheel contact on uneven ground. All of these features truly make Genie Knuckle Boom lifts smoother and easier to operate on uneven terrain.
Though these models are larger than other Genie engine-powered articulating Z-booms, they have features like continuous 360 degree turntable rotation and telescoping jibs to provide the user with incredible range of motion and reach. The design of the Z-boom gives the units outstanding over and up positioning capability that ranges from 8.83 meters on the Z-80/60 unit to 23.01 meters on the Z-135/70 model. The XChassis expanding axle is an innovatively engineered mechanism used for both retracting and extending axles in and out of stowed position. The width of the Z-135/70 unit machinery is only 2.46 meters when the axle is stowed. For easier transport, the Z-80/60 has fixed width axles.
