Motorized Pallet Truck
The Walkie-Rider, Rider or Walkie is a Motorized Pallet Truck which is essentially a motorized type of a pallet jack. They are available in both "Rider" versions as well as "Walkie" models.
Like what the name implies, the walkie type is designed for the operator to walk alongside with the unit as they transport cargo. The Rider model however, utilizes a small platform for which the operator stands on. The rider models are great for frequent moving of cargo over extended distances within manufacturing applications and warehouses. They are really fast and maneuverable.
It is important to remember that there is no safety cage on this model and thus, it is not recommended to move tall or unstable loads using these equipment. A rider might be the best answer if you are looking for a cheap method for transporting cargo from one location to another. If though, you should move heavy loads short distances, and prefer to utilize a more employee-friendly unit instead of a pallet jack, the walkie model might be the best alternative.
Order Selector
The order selector or order picker is a piece machinery designed particularly for manual handling of less-than-pallet-load quantities in racking. There are fixed forks connected to a platform in the Man-up design. This particular platform elevates both the load and the operator with a purpose to facilitate manual loading and unloading from racking areas.
Typically, the order selector is a very narrow aisle vehicle that can function in smaller aisles. They are really useful pieces of machinery in cycle counting situations as well as during physical inventories. Order selectors are available in lift heights up to 40 feet high, though models which range in the 20 to 30 foot range are a lot more common.
